What is the Internet of Everything (IoE)?

On October 11, on the site of the theme activity----5G & IoE, Li Ji, vice president of DC Holdings Smart City Service Group, gave a vivid case, which made the concept of IoE far from being abstract.

“For instance, there are 200,000 yaks in Western Sichuan. Each has been labeled and has sensor on one ear. These sensors can collect the information about their location and their health status. We set up a virtual warehouse, put these data in it, and then pledge these data to the bank for loans, so that the yak farmers will have enough money to expand production. If they sell the data to the insurance company, it dares to insure the yaks because the insurance company knows their location and the health status. In addition, since the database shows that the price of the yak meat varies with seasons, they can sell the meat when the price is higher. In this process, the three industries ---- agriculture, industry and finance ---- are interconnected.

In June this year, China issued 5G commercial licenses. So the development of 5G has been accelerated in an all-round way. As an important part of the 2019 China International Digital Economy Expo, in the activity of 5G & IoE themed as “5G empowering the IoE”, the attendants hold discussion on the hot issues such as the influence of 5G on the digital economy in China, the opportunities for the future development of 5G, and how 5G, the new technology, drives economic development through innovation. They presented a feast of new thoughts to the participants.

“IoE will surely lead to transformation to digitization because data will surely be behind the IoE.” said Liang Baojun, the Deputy General Manager of China United Network Communication Group Co., Ltd.. He pointed out that IoE or AI+IoT (Artificial Intelligence + Internet of Things) are essentially the same. They both focus on data. With the rapid development of 5G technology, IoE will be ushered in new and greater development.

According to Cao Zejun, vice president of Huawei China, 5G is the foundation for the development of the entire digital economy. It will not only promote economic development, but also bring social benefits. And ultimately 5G will improve the experience of consumers, which is its greatest value.

Before the national day of this year, Great Wall Motors Co., Ltd. received a letter of thanks signed by Chaesub Lee, Director of the Telecommunications Standardization Sector of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU-T) of UN. This is because of its long-term contribution to standardizing the multimedia in international collaborative vehicles.

It will also lead the industry into sharing economy stage.

5G, as the fifth generation of mobile communication technology, is an important engine for the technological enhancement and economic development in the future. At present, a series of policies and measures have been introduced. They are closely related to digital economy, 5G, big data, and Internet Plus, and the integration of all these technologies. Five big data industrial bases have been built in Zhangjiakou, Chengde, Langfang, Qinhuangdao and Shijiazhuang, and a number of characteristic industrial parks have also been built. There have been nearly 100,000 reserves of 5G site resources, and a number of pilot demonstration activities of the application scenarios of 5G. All these have laid a good foundation and opened up a broad space for the development of digital economy.

Zhou Jingyao, Director of Hebei Communications Administration, said that Hebei will grasp the opportunities offered by the Digital Expo, the construction of Xiong’An, and the smart Winter Olympics. It will make good use of 5G--- a safe, efficient and convenient network----to develop an economy pattern of 5G “1 + 3 + N”, (5G is the foundation. Xiong’An is one focus. Three refers to multi-bases for scientific achievements transformation. N refers to a lot of fields by using 5G technology.) The Government will strive to create 5G ecosystem to promote the emergence of new industries, new forms of business and new business models. What’s more, it will also promote the transformation of economy and society into a digital, networked and intelligent one, to make contributions to the high-quality development of economy.
