On October 10, themed as “Unicorn Leads Innovation”, the sub forum of the 2019 China International Digital Economy Expo was held in Shijiazhuang (Zhengding) International Convention and Exhibition Center.

According to the list of Global Unicorn Club released by CB Insights, a world-renowned venture capital research institution, in 2018 there were 92 unicorn companies in China, accounting for 28% of the total number all over the world. The exploding unicorn companies shows that the innovation strength in China has been greatly improved. These companies will lead the industries in developing in a new way and promote the integration and progress of upstream and downstream industries.
Liu Lihua, deputy director of the Committee for Economic Affairs of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), pointed out in his speech that in recent years, digital economy in China has been booming, which has injected new momentum and new vitality into the economic development. At the same time, the number of unicorn companies in digital economy has exploded. They have become the leader of new industries and new economic status. He hopes that the companies can make good use of the theme activity in the forum to display their latest scientific and technological innovation achievements, deepen the opening up and cooperation, promote integrated development, and make new contributions to the high-quality development of the digital economy in China.
In the era of digital economy, unicorn companies are playing a leading role in social economy. “The success of any company, whether it is a hardware company or a software one, or an Internet corporate, often comes from the minority of its kind”, said Yu Chijian, chief of Information and Space Division of the Department of High and New Technology Development and Industrialization of the Ministry of Science and Technology of the People′s Republic of China. He also said that enterprises cannot do without the Internet, cloud platforms and big data. By making use of the Information Technology (IT), i.e. the Internet, enterprises can reconstruct the real economy by changing the consideration relationship of the original relations in the production of the real economy. “Therefore, simply speaking, the unicorn companies today belong to the minority, but they must utilize the Internet and cloud computing platforms, and must belong to ecology of the industry.”
“In the era of digital economy, the digitization of enterprises has entered the era of EBC (Enterprise Business Capability) from the era of ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning).” said Xu Shaochun, chairman and CEO of Kingdee International Software Group Co., Ltd. He continued that since the digitization of enterprises has entered the Post ERP era, ERP is no longer just focusing on “resources” or “planning”. Instead, ERP is rapidly shifting its focus from “enterprise”, and is gradually developing into a more extensive “business capability”.
How can we seize the opportunity in the era of digital economy? Tan Jianrong, academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering pointed out that in order to develop the digital economy, Hebei Province need to do well in the following two aspects: first, a loose business environment; second, talents, especially the talents of digital economy.
