On October 11, at the 2019 China International Digital Economy Expo, the theme activity of 5G & Internet of Everything (IoE) was held. Participants discussed on the hot issues such as the influence of 5G on the digital economy in China, the opportunities for the future development of 5G, and how the new technology---- 5G----drives economic development through innovation.
On June 6 this year, China issued 5G commercial licenses, and this facilitate the quick development of 5G in an all-round way. By September this year, three basic telecom enterprises have been scrambling to carry out the construction of 5G base station all over the country. As the number of stations is increasing, the continuous converage has been realized in many places in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Xiong’An and other urban areas.

5G, the fifth generation of mobile network, is an important engine of the technological enhancement and economic development. At present, Hebei has introduced a series of policies and measures for digital economy, 5G, big data, Mobile Internet, cloud computing and Internet Plus. Now five big data industrial bases have been built in Zhangjiakou, Chengde, Langfang, Qinhuangdao and Shijiazhuang, and a number of characteristic industrial parks have also been established. There have been nearly 100,000 reserves of 5G site resources, and a number of pilot demonstration activities of the application scenarios of 5G have been carried out. All these have laid a good foundation and opened up a broad space for the development of digital economy.
Zhou Jingyao, Director of Hebei Communications Administration, said that Hebei will grasp the opportunities offered by the Digital Expo, the construction of Xiong’An, and the smart Winter Olympics. It will make good use of 5G--- a safe, efficient and convenient network----to develop an economy pattern of 5G “1 + 3 + N”, (5G is the foundation; Xiong’An is one focus; Three refers to multi-bases for scientific achievements transformation. N refers to a lot of fields by using 5G technology. ) The Government will strive to create 5G ecosystem to promote the emergence of new industries, new forms of business and new business models. What’s more, it will also promote the transformation of economy and society into a digital, networked and intelligent one, to make contributions to the high-quality development of economy.
“IoE will surely lead to transformation to digitization because data will surely be behind the IoE.” said Liang Baojun, Deputy General Manager of China United Network Communication Group Co., Ltd.. He pointed out that IoE or AIoT (Artificial Intelligence of Things) are essentially the same. They both focus on data. With the rapid development of 5G technology, IoE will enter in new and greater development.
According to Cao Zejun, vice president of Huawei China, 5G is the foundation for the development of the entire digital economy. It will not only promote economic development, but also bring social benefits. And ultimately 5G will improve the experience of consumers, which is its greatest value.
Zhang Zhiwei, CMO of Telefonaktiebolaget LM Ericsson in North East Asia, agrees with Cao Zejun. He said that 5G started from toC (to Customer) mode, but will develop rapidly in toB (to Business) mode. “5G brings more opportunities for enterprises, and 35% increase in their income.”
Guo Yansong, Deputy General Manager of Great Wall Motors Co., Ltd., said that as a leading enterprise of Chinese automobile brands, Great Wall Motors is firmly grasping the opportunities offered by both 5G and artificial intelligence. It will promote scientific and technological innovation, and lead the automotive industry to be digital and intelligent so as to realize Vehicle to Everything (V2X). It will also lead the industry into sharing economy stage.
